On June 21, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at the National Press Club the project “Improving the capacity for corporation between the institutions in working with unaccompanied minors” will be presented. It is financed under the program “Internal affairs” of the Norwegian Grants 2014 – 2021 and is being coordinated the European Institute Foundation.
Ms. Lubov Panayotova, Director of the European Institute, Prof. Antoniy Galabov, a sociologist, and Mr. Ivan Sharenkov, legal consultant on migration issues, head of the project’s legal team, will participate in the event.
The project aims to increase the capacity and improve the cooperation between the national institutions, non-governmental and international organizations working in the field of asylum and migration (with a focus on working with unaccompanied minors).
The attention of the institutions that work on the field should be focused on the situation of the unaccompanied refugee children, as well as their vulnerability. By identifying the existing problems and difficulties, outlining the challenges and formulating recommendations to support the competent institutions in their work, the project aims to ensure the rights and the interests of this vulnerable group of children.
Through the activities of the project, a profile of unaccompanied minors in Bulgaria, a set of recommendations for improving the mechanism for cooperation and interaction of the competent institutions will be developed. Additionally, an innovative web-based tool – a road map for actions in working with unaccompanied minors will be created. The last activity of the project would ensure capacity building through conducting of vast number of trainings.
