The European Institute conducted the second series of training seminars on the project “IImproving the Capacity for Corporation Between the Institutions in Working with Unaccompanied Minors”, financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014 – 2021, with program operator International Projects Directorate of the Ministry of Interior.
The purpose of the training was to build the capacity of employees who are directly involved in working with unaccompanied minors.
The training seminars took place in the period July 3-7, 2023 in the Dvoretsa Spa Hotel, Velingrad according to the following schedule:
Training 1 – 3-4.07.2023;
Training 2 – 4-5.07.2023;
Training 3 – 5-6.07.2023;
Training 4 – 6-7.07.2023
The total number of participants in the four trainings was 99.
Topics such as:
- Migration flows and the situation with unaccompanied minors on the territory of some European MS, with indicated models and good practices;
- Social profile of unaccompanied children in Bulgaria, their journey and experiences;
- Identification of unaccompanied children, incl. interaction between competent authorities, international and non-governmental organizations;
- Specifics of the interview in proceedings against unaccompanied minor migrants;
- Protection of the rights and legal interests of unaccompanied children;
- ECHR case law on the return of unaccompanied persons.
After the completion of each of the trainings, an anonymous survey of all participants was conducted. The questions covered both the organizational part and the content part. Based on the answers collected from the conducted survey, conclusions were drawn about the usefulness of the trainings – the largest part of the participants rated the training as “extremely useful”. The rating for the speakers and the topics covered is “excellent”. The majority of respondents rated the logistics and organization of the training seminars as “excellent”.
